ISSUE August 2010 - Federal:

Increase in Pensioners’ Contributions to the Pensioners’ Dental Services Plan (PDSP)

As you may know by now the Government has, without consultation with affected parties, decided to change the PDSP contribution formula. Consequently if you are a member of the PDSP you will be facing a greater share of the premium payments.

We have prepared a suggested letter which you can print, complete and send either by e-mail (see above e-mail addresses) or by regular mail to:

ISSUE August 2013 - Federal:

Increase in Pensioners’ Contributions to the Pensioners’ Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP)

• Honour your promise •
There have been recent reports in the media that the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board of Canada is considering non-negotiable changes to the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP). These changes will have a direct impact on federal retirees’ health care and retirement income. National Association of Federal Retirees, with the full support of its partners, is launching a campaign titled "Honour Your Promise", to ask that the Government of Canada do just that: honour the promises made to federal employees, both past and present; and that they shelve any plans that would be detrimental to the retirement and health care security of federal retirees, including the changes reportedly being considered for the Public Service Health Care Plan.

As this is yet another attack on past, agreed-to retirement benefit that formed an integral part of the terms of employment under which we provided, in good faith, our service to the Government of Canada (our employer), it is of paramount importance that we all take a stand now. Everyone, those involved in National Association of Federal Retirees, from individual members, to volunteers, to staff, to leadership, as well as family members and Public Servants not members of National Association of Federal Retirees has a key role to play in preserving the benefits and pensions for federal retirees. Indeed, this is also in the interest of all Canadians as this could be simply a precursor of plans to further weaken the retirement security of all citizens, as evidenced already by past changes to the Old Age Security program, and changes to the Canada Pension Plan system that seem to be subject to ongoing discussed by the current Government both in public and private forums.

To provide a quick overview of the issues a member of the Quinte Branch, National Association of Federal Retirees has prepared two one-page flyers, for your viewing and use.
